St Vincent de Paul Ministry
Mission Statement:
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Venerable Frederick Ozanam, and patron St. Vincent de Paul.
As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings, and adherence to a basic rule.
Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s life by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addresses its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ
. Matthew 25:35
“for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you comforted me, in prison and you visited me.”
Gabriel Project
- The Gabriel Project is a ministry that helps women in a crisis pregnancy. The Gabriel Project of St. Joseph is:
- pastoral - the church responds by supplying needs that range from material to spiritual.
- educational - the value and dignity of life, especially that of the unborn, is affirmed to the community by the actions and witness of the church.
- evangelical - the love, care and concern that a person is shown by the faith community will bring them to Christ.
The Gabriel Project Involves
- placing "The Sign of Life" in the front of the church. The sign advertises that the church community is going to help a pregnant woman in need (the sign is preferable, but can be optional, depending on community sign ordinances).
- having a "Gabriel Project Sunday," during which the project is introduced to the parish, parishioners' support and prayers are requested, and people are recruited for various tasks.
- being prepared to respond to a woman who calls in crisis.

Our Lady of the Angels provides shelter for homeless pregnant women and their children. While in residence at the shelter, pregnant women are provided the opportunity to examine issues in their lives which have led them to be without shelter, a job, or the basic necessities of life. Our Lady of the Angels provides a stable family environment to support the mother and child in their efforts to create a hopeful future for themselves.
Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter had been developed in response to the need for emergency shelter surfacing from churches involved in the Gabriel Project and other area agencies providing help to women in crisis pregnancies.
We are an emergency shelter.
